Programs

We offer a variety of programs for paddlers of all ages and experience—youth, first-time paddlers, and experienced paddlers—for men/kane, women/wahine, and keiki and juniors, including off-season paddling.

Kane | Men

Kahakai has an active men’s racing program for both long and short distance. We compete in SCORA-sanctioned races throughout Southern California. Race information and schedule can be found here. First year paddlers will compete as novices during the first half of the racing season in “iron” short-course races. At the conclusion of the iron season, they will be considered “open” paddlers and can compete in 9-man races for the rest of the year.

Offseason “Winter Lites”

Kahakai offers paddling during the offseason, from October through March. It’s a great opportunity to stay in shape between seasons, or to try out or begin paddling before the next season begins.

Offseason Schedule

Saturdays (OC6)
8:45 a.m.
Sundays (OC1 or OC2)*
8:00 a.m.

*Sunday OC1 and OC2 paddling is a semi-organized workout during the offseason. It is not an official Kahakai event—just a group of local paddlers who enjoy paddling together throughout the year.
